Blackpool 2005

Me, Steven and Lucy arrived at the leisure centre at about 6.15am after a quick stop for Steven at the swings in the park.  When we got there the only other person was Lolly but by about 6.45 everyone had arrived and we were ready to go.  The bus ride was long and almost everyone was tired (or hung-over - HUNTA!) but we were kept amused by the quiz Gary had made us (with questions ranging from the names of Wombles to countries that have held the Olympics).  By the time we got to the Pleasure Beach it was about 10.30, we got our wristbands and the first ride of the day was the Pepsi Max.

The Pepsi Max was the only ride that Gary wanted the whole club to do together, but thanks to a rather unpleasant Scottish woman (and the fact that there were to many of us to all ride at once) we ended up splitting into two groups.  We survived the ride with no one being hurt - no one that is apart from poor Laura who smacked her mouth on the bar and spent the rest of the day in pain.  After this ride we all split into little groups and went our separate ways.

Our little group was Me, Katie, Louise, Lee, Carl, Shauna, Hunta, Julie, Gary, Dawn and little Lewis.  The next ride we went on was the Avalanche and Gary absolutely insisted that Katie came on.  She protested but eventually gave in and actually enjoyed it.  Her fear was conquered. Well half conquered, she still wouldn't attempt the Irn Bru Revolution, she couldn't face the loop.  Saying that neither could Hunta or Carl (I think the truth is that Hunta felt more sick than scared) and Lewis wasn't tall enough so Gary and Dawn took him on a different ride.

After that we went on most of the rides in the park and we were all pleased that Lewis seemed to be tall enough for almost all of them including Valhalla which was probably one of the most popular rides of the day with everyone even though we all got completely soaked.  If anyone is thinking of going on this ride then be warned - you are not safe sitting at the back - the backwards drop makes sure that you too will get wet!

The last ride of the day was Bling - a twisting...twisty thing that raised you up in the air and span you in all directions until all you could see was the sea and the sky.  Although Julie will "try anything once" she said she wouldn't be able to manage anything else after that. LOL.

Back onto the bus - there was somewhat less room on the way home, this could be because there were so many people spawling across two seats to sleep or it could be because of the 5 giant stuffed animals which various Vertex members had won.  Now don't get me wrong I would expect this from the young kids - or even the girls - but imagine everyone's shock when we found at that one of these belonged to Steven!  Apart from a stop for food at a service station and the bus driver's need for petrol we were home quite quickly.  We got back for about 9pm.
